First up today I have a card using the adorable new Birdie Brown set, Happy Pawlidays. First, I sponged a background using Latte dye ink and Berrylicious dye ink, stamped the sentiment, cut it with A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1, and popped it up on a Wild Cherry card stock base with foam tape.

countdownday4_2017sept30b

The images were stamped on No-Line Coloring card stock with Black Licorice hybrid ink, colored with Copics, and also popped up on foam for dimension. I added some White Blizzard Nuvo Glitter Drops to the tree—it’s hard to see the glitter in the photo but they do shine IRL.

Did you see the new Lip Balm Window & Frame Die-namics and Lip Balm Pouches? OMGosh they’re super fun!! I have a Release Class using them for some fun projects and here’s a peek at them.

I just love Polar Pals Stamp Set!! Adorable images and punny sentiments—win-win in my book! I’m starting with this card using the CUTE little narwhal image. I stamped it three times and colored with Copics, then arranged them in a sort or circle to tie in with the sentiment—“I’m going in circles without you” kind of thing. What do you think? Does it work?

countdownday5_2017sept29b

The background is a watercolor wash on heat embossed Whimsical Waves background and the sentiment was also heat embossed. Foam tape was used to dimension and I used some Morning Dew Nuvo Jewel Drops for air bubbles. It took me a little practice but I think I’m getting the hang of Nuvo Drops. Expect to see more :)
*****

My second card is definitely Christmas themed.

countdownday5b_2017sept29

Another watercolor wash background then the sentiment was heat embossed. Tip: sometimes watercolors or ink will stain white embossing so stamp and emboss AFTER doing the wash. I hand tore the edges of my watercolor paper for a deckled look—expect to see more of that, too ;-)

countdownday5b_2017sept29b

I popped the panel up on foam tape on the card base then added some Let It Snowflake Too Die-namics cut from Silver Sparkle card stock and some Metallic Silver Lining Nuvo Crystal Drops. Yep, I’m liking them.

And that’s it for today from me! Thanks so much for stopping by! See you back tomorrow for Day Four of MFT’s October Release Countdown!

I hadn’t used Inside & Out Stitched Stars Die-namics for a while and I thought they would be a good way to introduce the colors. First, I cut them out of Sweet Tooth card stock, popped it up on a Sweet Tooth base with foam tape and filled the openings with die cut stars in the challenge colors.

MFTCPC78_2017sep28b

The sentiment is from Written in the Stars, was stamped with Versamark on Black Licorice card stock and heat embossed with white embossing powder, then adhered. I added Shining Stars Die-namics cut from Silver Sparkle card stock and two layers of Sweet Tooth, adhered together for strength and then adhered to the card front. To finish off, I added a bunch of smaller stars, cut from the challenge color and Silver Sparkle for more interest.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the
MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $20 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Thanks–Color Throwdown Challenge #462

CTD462_2017sep27

Hi everyone, welcome to a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge! I’m hosting this week and since I’ll all about Fall I went with a traditional Fall combo based on my inspiration piece. I hope to see lots of you playing along this week!

swatch462

My card is pretty simple, with a watercolor wash background for starters. I popped that up on foam tape and added Mod Square STAX, cut from Sweet Tooth card stock and also popped up on foam, then I added Fab Foliage Die-namics cut from the following card stocks, top to bottom: Tangy Orange, Cactus, and Chili Powder.

CTD462_2017sep27b

The sentiment is from Many Thanks Die-namics, was cut from Brushed Gold card stock, and adhered to finish off.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the
Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD462 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd462 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week, including our Guest Designer for September, the incredibly talented Tammy Hershberger!

You’re Too Awesome to be Sick–MFT September Hits & Highlights: Essentials

hitsnhighlights_2017sep26

If you’re building a supply of stamps and Die-namics, or simply looking to add even more versatility to your existing collection, our line of essentials is the perfect place to start. This line features a sentiment for every occasion in an enviable mix of classic greetings and unique, smile-inducing phrases. A clean font in a compact but legible size allows you to mix the phrases with existing sets in your collection and pairs perfectly with our essential Die-namics — Cover-Ups and sentiment strips designed to spotlight your sentiments to perfection.

Print

MFT’s line of Essentials really ARE essential to a well stocked craft room. Today I’m using Essential Sentiments and Essential Cover-Up Horizontal Die-namics for my card. I planned out my design and started by cutting my Cover-Up so I could lightly mark in pencil for image placement. I stamped the sentiment and then a bunch of pills on the card base, then popped the Cover-Up up on foam tape after stamping the sentiment on the cross piece.

hitsnhighlights_2017sep26b

Then I stamped up three pill bottles colored them with Copics, and popped them up on foam tape. I cut the top off of the top bottle and adhered that beside the other two bottles as a sweet little detail.

And that’s it from me for this month’s MFT Hits & Highlights Challenge! Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!

You Amaze Me–Creative Construction with Blueprints: Mix It Up

CCwithBP_2017sep21

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this month’s Creative Construction with Blueprints Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this month’s challenge: Blueprints are designed to take the guesswork out of crafting beautiful cards in a hurry. However, when you have some extra time and the creative mojo is flowing, the versatile elements are ideal for mixing and matching to create completely unique new looks. This month, join us as our team explores inventive ways of combining elements from a variety of Blueprints into one beautifully put together look. All of the details about the challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFT_CreativeConstruction_SideBar

I was totally inspired by a piece of art I saw for this card. I’m using Blueprints 2 for outer “frame”, Blueprints 27 for the sentiment strip, and Blueprints 31 for the inner, lower section. I stamped an uncut piece of Ranger Watercolor Paper with Typewriter Text Background and then stamped all my Color Drops using ink colors listed below in a random fashion before cutting. To stamp, I mounted the images on a stamping block, inked it up, and spritzed lightly with a Mini Mister then stamped. I popped the “frame” up on foam tape and adhered the center down to the card base.

CCwithBP_2017sep21b

The sentiment was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder then popped up on foam. The die cut work was cut three times and layered, then popped up, as well. The butterfly was cut from vellum, stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with black embossing powder. I wanted it to stay translucent so only stamped the “bones”. To complete them, I hand drew the top and bottom lines with a black Copic Multiliner pen. I popped it up on foam and finished off with clear droplets.

And that’s it from me! Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!

Reach for the Stars–MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #351

MFTWSC351_2017sep22

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

MFT_WSC_351

I found this to be a really interesting sketch and thought Shining Stars Die-namics and Written in the Stars stamp set would work well for it. To start, I sponged up some Sweet Tooth card stock with Grape Jelly dye ink, Blueberry dye ink, and After Midnight dye ink, splattered with clean water and then some watered down Copic Opaque White. I cut the sentiment opening with Stitched Oval Word Windows Die-namics, and rounded the corners with Blueprints 31 Die-namics then popped it up on foam mounting tape with the sentiment stamped on the card base.

MFTWSC351_2017sep22b

The bottom part was cut from Proper Pinstripes Paper Pack and cut with Stitched Scallop Basic Edges 2 Die-namics and also popped up on foam. The large word was cut from Brushed Silver card stock and the smaller stars from Silver Sparkle card stock for the finish.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $20 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!
