Mahalo–My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #329

Hi, everyone, I’m back with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. All of the details about the sketch challenge are available on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog as well as in the weekly newsletter. The MFT Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

I created a little beach scene for my card this week. I started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base, then added another piece of Sweet Tooth card stock, trimmed down and dry embossed with Waves Stencil. Next is a piece of Ranger Watercolor paper on which I did a watercolor background with Peerless watercolors and added strips of Dots & Stripes Bright Paper Pack following the sketch.

Then I stamped a couple of images from BB Polynesian Paradise on X-Press It Blending card, colored with Copic markers, and fussy cut them out. I popped them up on foam mounting tape and added a Sunshine card stock sun and a Puffy Clouds Die-namics cloud, on which I stamped the sentiment.

And there you have it! Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the
MFT Challenge Blog. You have the chance to win a $20 in MFT voucher. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

Hello There–Color Throwdown Challenge #439

Hi and welcome to a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Vickie is our hostess and she has chosen some bold colors based on her inspiration piece.

I decided to add my colors with watercolor so first I stamped Moroccan Lattice Background on Ranger Watercolor Paper and heat embossed with white detail embossing powder, then applied the four challenge colors. To add some contrast, I splattered a little black watercolor paint all over.

Next I stamped the partial sentiment from Essential Sentiments with Black Licorice hybrid ink and Versamark (inked up with Versamark and then the black ink) and heat embossed with fine black embossing powder on Translucent Vellum. That was adhered by wrapping the ends around and taping them down before popped the watercolored panel up on the Sweet Tooth card stock base with foam mounting tape. Then I cut Hello There Die-namics from Black Licorice card stock and adhered it to the vellum after adding some rolled up silk thread for some added interest.

And that’s it from me! Remember, you do not have to have the exact colors to play the
Color Throwdown challenge. If you don't, just use the closest you have. So, c'mon over to the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week. Please use the link service to post your card and please link directly to your card so we can find it easily. And please include a link in your post to the Color Throwdown. If you upload your card to a public forum, please use the keyword CTD439 so we can see your beauty all in one place, and use #ctd439 and #colorthrowdown on social media. Hope to see you there! Be sure to check out what the other team members have come up with this week, including our incredibly talented April Guest Designer, Jeanne Jachna!

A-maze-ing–My Favorite Things April Card Kit Release

Hi, everyone, are you ready??!! A-maze-ing Card Kit is now available for purchase in the MFT Boutique! You’ve seen some a-maze-ing samples over the last couple of days from the design team and that’s just the tip of the creative iceberg—so many things you can do with this kit. Be sure to check by the MFT Blog for more info and more samples, then go snag yours! Remember, we now have a new free with $60 die available for our customers with every kit release. It will be the free die (while supplies last) for the duration of the month until the next release. The mid-month free with $60 die is Happy Greetings Die-namics.

So. I had this wild idea for this card and I hope it translates the way I want it to. The premise of my design is that the birdie is on a limb in the foreground and he’s leaving there and going across the valley to the trees in the distance. The maze is his metaphorical journey. Did it work? Sounded good in my head, LOL! At any rate, I’ll tell you how I did it.

I applied a watercolor wash with
Peerless Watercolors on Ranger Watercolor paper and adhered it to a Sweet Tooth card stock base when it was dry. I stamped the maze with Black Licorice hybrid ink and the trail with Wild Cherry hybrid ink, then the sentiment. I added Stitched Valley Die-namics, cut from Sour Apple card stock and Jellybean Green card stock, Trees in the Forest Die-namics, using the same greens and Latte card stock for the trunks.

The bird is from Springtime Critters, stamped on X-Press It Blending Card, colored with Copic markers and fussy cut out, along with the limb, from Harvest Buddies done the same way. I added a Sunshine card stock sun cut with Blueprints 21 Die-namics and clouds cut from Sweet Tooth card stock with Spring Scene Builder Die-namics.

That’s it from me for the
A-maze-ing Card Kit Release! It is now available in the MFT online store so go get yours!!! You’ll be glad you did :) Thanks so much for stopping by! See you soon!
